Dr Suzuki’s contribution to ONN’s formative years cannot be overstated. His deep knowledge of Northeast Asian nuclear strategy and politics has significantly enriched our work, as has his consistent advocacy for a holistic approach to nuclear risk—one that incorporates technical, social, and ethical considerations in our collective effort to eliminate this threat by the year 2100.
In many ways, Dr Suzuki exemplifies the best of our field. He serves as a council member of the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs, co-chairs the International Panel on Fissile Materials, and sits on the Advisory Board of the Asia Pacific Leadership Network. A committed multilateralist, he firmly believes the nuclear challenge can only be addressed through joint efforts by governmental and non-governmental actors. He has also been a steadfast supporter of the next generation of arms control professionals striving to carry this mission forward.
I wish him every success in his future endeavors.
